公司创始人是埃比尼泽·格里夫斯（Ebenezer Greaves），在原石岸水滨他还建立了他的屠宰场，格里夫斯鲸鱼屋（the Greaves Whale House），以及之后进行原油后期处理的格里夫斯炼油厂（the Greaves Refinery）。
