Watchtower

A guard patrols around a watchtower.

Watchtowers are metal towers fitted with two floodlights that sweep important areas in Dunwall. Depending on the chaos level, some missions may have different numbers of watchtowers.

Description

Watchtowers are stationary, and swivel in order to surveil an area using a large spotlight. They are automated, meaning that it is possible to rewire them using a rewire tool in order to set them against the City Watch and their allies. When a hostile enters the tower's illumination, its spotlight will turn red and the tower will fire incendiary bolts at the target. The tower's attack range extends to extreme distances after a hostile is detected.

Watchtowers are indestructible and highly dangerous, and are best avoided or disabled. They can, like other automated defences, be disabled by removing the whale oil tank powering them, or by using a rewire tool as previously mentioned.

While watchtowers have the longest range of all Sokolov devices within Dunwall, they also do the least damage upon a successful hit. Corvo should avoid taking a direct hit, but if he needs to dash through an area guarded by a watchtower it is unlikely that he will be killed by it.
