Gonna be a while before I start the second RP campaign, but one idea I've had is a slight retcon.
Going to make the Runners part of the City Watch, badged as Watch Inspector but otherwise doing more or less the same job. Will mean greater interaction with the rest of the Watch who may see the Runners as bothersome upstarts.

Having arrested Lilika and brought her back to Dunwall for imprisonment in Coldridge Prison, the Runners report in to Magistrate Cathmore about their excursion to the countryside. Following on from the Hounds of Lydsworth case the Runners are making their return back to Dunwall, though stopping at a village inn for the night here gossip about a number of young girls from the local villages being found drowned under myserious cirmcumstances. Questioning the local village constable the Runners discover that the girls had been found drowned in local ponds with their necks nicked and scratched as if by a collar of thorns, also the girls died not long after they had brought a trinket made from whalebone from a 'gypsy woman'.

As Gregory and Aliya crouched in the dark of the upper hall, they could hear the thing drawing close. It had followed them from the forest, through the garden, and into the house. Now as they leaned against the wall, exhausted and terrified, they could hear it coming up the stair. Moving slowly, it scraped along, exposed bone dragging across wood and carpet.
