- If you talk to Sokolov while he's walking to the skiff, he will tell you that he has 7 or 8 children around the Isle, and Corvo/Emily has done more for him than any of them did.
- Remember the windmill mechanic that overcharge walls of light? Curiously, dust storms don't do this. This is either a dev oversight or probably because the dust storms are not as strong as Windblast.

- Howlers posting bounties on Overseers, exchanging one bottle of Orbon Rum for an overseer mask. There are also a bunch of Overseer masks in the Crone's Hand Saloon.

- Howlers seem to have an abundance of Orbon Rum. If you look closely at their wristbows, you can see that the battery cases are made out of Orbon Rum bottles.

- Sebastien Mitton came up with idea of the Howler scissor blades because his grandmother was a dressmaker.
- If you look closely at both the concept art and the in-game model of the scissor blades, you can see the logo of Moir & Son. This is the same company that manufactures tanning boxes for the Addermire Institute
- The content of the Paolo's Concern note changes based on whether you killed Mindy and whether you attacked Paolo in previous missions.
- It's possible to meet Mindy again in this mission, though I'm not entirely sure what the conditions are. In my opinion, you must:
- not let her die during The Edge of the World.
- not attack Paolo during The Clockwork.
- bring an unconscious Byrne over to the saloon.
- When you bring Byrne over, Mindy will offer to tattoo you, and if you're on a flesh&steel run, Corvo/Emily will say the following:
- Corvo: "No, it took long enough for the last one to fade".
- Emily: "I've managed to avoid strange marks on my skin so far".

- Paolo is immune to Shadow Kill.
- Paolo cannot be grabbed by Far Reach, and Windblast only staggers him. This is likely because he wears the Iron Roots bonecharm (if worn by the protagonist, it lessens the impact when being kicked by enemies).

- When Paolo is killed or when the protagonist stomps on Granny Rag's hand, a high-pitched scream can be heard. This is the exact same scream, heard when Granny Rag is killed or knocked out in Dishonored.
- When mesmerized, Paolo will say the following:
- "I don't remember what I was doing. Doesn't matter anymore. Yeah, I hear you, Granny."
- "I can feel the old crone's hand, it's so cold."
- "So cold, so strange, but I want to touch it."
- "This reminds me of something, something I lost maybe."
- "Reminds of of the old lady's hand somehow."

- Liam Byrne is also immune to Shadow Kill.
- When mesmerized, Byrne will say the following:
- "I saw something like this once, during the Trials of Aptitude." (Do the Overseers actually use some kind of magic to mesmerize the candidates in order to reveal their true selves?)
- "It feels cold and hungry, but perhaps it's always been there inside."
- "I feel lost. Have I forgotten the Seven Strictures?"
- "No, no, no, I hear the Void calling."
- "Oracular sisters... brothers in the Abbey, do not abandon me."
- If you killed Byrne, you can write his name down in the Overseer's Book of the Fallen inside their outpost.
- By the way, in low chaos the number of names listed in this book matches the number of dead overseers and discarded masks found in the mission: 22. In high chaos, there are two more dead overseers being hanged near the Modotti studio, but the number in the book is unchanged.
- The Overseer outpost used to be Bayles Trading Company building, the same conpany that has been tasked by Luca Abele to take over Stilton's mines and double their production. The signboard of the company has now been covered by Abbey's banners. Originally, Arkane intended to let players see how their actions in A Crack in the Slab mission affect Dust District: if you saved Stilton, the Overseer wouldn't occupy the building, and the Crone's Hand Saloon would just be just a normal bar, not taken over by the Howlers. The below unused render and concept art show the building and its signboard in their original states.
