- The title of this mission, "A Hole in the World", is a phrase mentioned in the franchise a few times. This refers to portals or Void Rifts that allow people from the physical realm to enter the Void. In chapter 8 of the novel Dishonored: The Veiled Terror, the void rift inside Professor Dribner's lab is directly called "this hole in the world". In The Tales from Dunwall, Piero Joplin kept dreaming about the Lonely Rat Boy but one day, "the boy was gone, and there is a hole in the world", and Piero appeared to enter the Void. In Dishonored, Granny Rags also scribbled this phrase on the floor of her old apartment. Finally, during The Stolen Archive mission, the Outsider himself mentioned the phrase when Billie interacts with the hollow below the raided apartment.

- It's revealed in this note that the Pendleton mines have been closed by this time, likely because they have dried out as suggested in Dishonored. And if you don't remember, Pendleton mines used slaves/forced labor and the non-lethal elimination of the Pendleton twins involved their tongues being cut out, their head shaved and the twins being forced to work in their own mines.
- The black bonecharms used by the cultists aren't just for show, they actually do give them powers similar to what the protagonists in the franchise have. There is a cultist with Iron Roots bonecharm that makes him immune to Billie's kick and Blink Assault [Credit: u/XlulZ2558], and another one with Power Slash bonecharm which grants him greater sword damage. Other cases:

The epitaphs.
- In Dishonored, one of the epitaphs in the Office of the High Overseer says that High Overseer Francis Perry encountered and fought the Outsider. The book Can The Outsider Speak? An analysis of his visitations (2), found at the bottom of the library of this mission, expands upon this account. It mentions that "Outsider assumed the form of a large serpent and attacked the High Overseer in his chambers", which the author discredited.
- In Dishonored, the book The Hungry Cosmos, which was written by Sokolov, theorized that the world is "adrift in a sea of howling chaos, a terrible maelstrom in which all heavenly bodies orbit a devouring core" and "all cosmic objects are eventually dragged into this hungry nexus and forever cease to be". And the Heart also said "Someday [the Void] will devour all the lights in the sky". In this mission, you can find a book called We Watch the Stars which claimed that the Envisioned created the Outsider because they saw a cluster of stars vanished from the sky.
- Harvey Smith said on Twitter that when people die, peaceful spirits are rewarded with non-existence while discordant ones drift in the Void for eons until being devoured [Credit: SirBlumpkin] (possibly by the core mentioned in the previous point). The book Speculations on the Afterlife substantiates what Harvey said.
- When you reach the Ritual Hold, you can find many agonized spirits, including Daud's.

- The 'you-are-here' icon actually changes based on when/where you see the map. It's on "Shindaerey North Quary" area before you touch the Eye of the Dead God, and on the "Void" part after that.
- When the Envisioned use Blink, they disassemble themselves into smaller rocks, with the rocks fly toward and reassemble at their intended destination.
