  • It's being used on her profile. Seriously, who do you think you are? I've been here much longer than you, I've put ACTUAL work into this wiki, and I've come to know the rules here pretty damn well.

    • I saw this coming; you're so predictable. Seniority (if that's what you want to call your little 11-month tenure here) does not equate to knowing the rules of a wiki or the wiki interface more than any other user. If you want to go throwing out credentials, I'll blatantly say that I have been editing wikis longer than you, and according to what you have showed me, have a better understanding of them as well.

You seem to have some superiority complex or something; seriously, your userpage says "Resident Head Lackey here (It means I do all the work)", when you aren't even an administrator and only make minor edits like most users (yeah... that's A LOT of work).

I'll tell you straight up: if you think just because you've been here longer, or because you have the highest editcount on the wiki, that you are somehow superior to any other editor, then we are always going to be at odds.

And about the profile image discussion we were having: you don't have to upload an image to the wiki to use it as an avatar; that's just common sense.

    • Okay, now I realize that I was wrong about the picture, since I rarely change mine. However, please don't assume in the five days that you've been here that you know what I've contributed to the wiki. I'm not gonna act like that makes me superior, because it doesn't, but you need to take a step down.

    • No. I have problems with users who think that a new user should just know nothing about wikis. "Take a step down"? Really? What does that mean? You want me to act like I don't know diddly-squat about wikis, let users upload images to the wiki that are unnecessary (at least you admitted that you were wrong), and just act docile to any other user just because they have contributed more to the wiki and I have only been here for the better part of a week? Well, I will politely say that I am not going to "take a step down" (whatever that means).

    • No, I am saying that you need to learn how to respect people when you enter a new community.

        Loading editor
    • Please explain how I have disrepected anyone of the community.

    • How about reading the recent comments you've made?

    • Like what? The closest thing to disrespect that I've said was that, "And stop telling me to go learn stuff that you don't even understand; it makes you look ignorant," which I don't consider disrespect; more so breaking it to you the way it is (since this is the second occasion where you have tried to correct me in some shape or form).

    • Actually, Nucl3arsnake, I have to agree with Essie. If there's a problem with MissAnata pic let the admins handle it. It's AN image, and there's no harm in having it loaded up especially since she used it for her profile pic. Maybe she's gonna use it on her page in some other way. I mean, I did the same with my profile pic.

MissAnata is a new person here at the wiki, and the first thing she does is upload an image for her profile and then someone tells her it's gonna be deleted? If you read her first comment she even says she has a vague knowledge of what's she's doing.

The way you handled the situation with her pic was VERY heavy-handed and truth be told if I was a new person to this wiki I myself would be highly discouraged from wanting to contribute anything again, let alone feel welcome at all. Rather than encourage or welcome her, you kinda condemned her first action.

You said in a comment above that just because you're new to this wiki that it shouldn't be assumed that you know nothing about wikis. I'll grant you that. By the same token, you need to realize that just because you DO understand so much, that not everybody else does.

    • @Geist: I'll admit that I handled it heavy-handedly, but you can blame that on:

      • being handled that way when I was new to wikis.
      • the fact that most wikis I've edited handle situations in a similar fashion, which I have adapted to.

I was just simply informing her of her mistake; new users won't learn anything if they aren't informed of the mistakes they're already making.

Also, I don't understand as much as you give me credit for. I said that in the comment above (about new users being treated as if they know nothing) because it has happened to me before; users automatically think that since you're new, they can just undo your edits, because they think you don't know anything (and they usually don't even leave a reason for undoing your edits).

    • ...All right then.

Okay guys, let's step back here. We don't have to get aggressive over something minimal like this.

Nucl3arsnake, I appreciate you're trying to be helpful, but if you take issue with something like MissAnata's profile picture, please bring it to the attention of the mods. We'll address the situation accordingly. Also, calling someone "ignorant" and "predictable" is effectively argument-baiting, since you're using accusatory language. We try to be less confrontational at this wiki, if we can help it, so don't do that, since it is almost guaranteed to start a fight.

That goes for everyone: disagree, argue, but do it respectfully. I don't want to be the morality police here, but getting aggressive helps no one. All that does is make debates degenerate into arguments that do no one any good.
