Corvo and his opponent fight with swords.

Swords are the main weapons available in Dishonored, which are part of the standard equipment for most enemies, including guards, Warfare Overseers, Assassins and Corvo Attano.

The city watch sword is a standardized sword made from industrial steel, reliable and utilitarian. It is the first weapon the player finds, during their escape of Coldridge Prison and is used till they find Corvo's personal sword, acquired from the Dunwall sewer stash late in their escape.

Corvo's folding blade is the primary right-hand weapon for most of the game. Acquired from the Dunwall sewer stash, its resilient folding blade is efficient for both stealthy assassinations and open melee combat. This combined with its unique dense metal makes it a perfect defense weapon as well. It can be upgraded by Piero Joplin for 600 coin to be more effective at "locking blades" and pushing away enemies.

The final two blades, the Overseer Blade and Assassin's Blade, are found in the Flooded District and can be completely bypassed if the player wishes. The overseer blade, standard issue for all overseers, is made for functionality, not beauty, working well against any foe within its reach. The assassin's blade is elegant in its simplicity, being an excellent tool for any form of elimination.

Trivia

  • Corvo's folding blade is very unique in design, even for the "steam-punk" genera. It is telescopic, meaning that each of the three sections are housed inside of each other, so with what appears to be a simple squeeze of the handle the cross-guard opens and the fist blade section shots out with the second coming out of it. It is never explained how this works as even with modern technology it is difficult to make such a weapon.
