Luke "Old Man" Greaves, is a character in the Dishonored Roleplaying Game and the owner of Greaves Lightning Oil by 1827.
Biography[]
Luke is a relative of Ebenezer Greaves, the oligarch and founder of the Greaves whaling empire. By 1827, he was in charge of the Whale Oil company. But as the oil revolution was booming, so did the competition, such as the Coldridge Dockyards Confinement Center owned by Lady Julie Coldridge. In order to keep up, Greaves was pushing his workers at the Greaves Whale House, mostly members of the Morleyan community in Dunwall, to their limits. Old Man Greaves also fueled a gang war between the Bottle Street Gang and the Hatters, who both had members working in his factory, in order to distract other workers from rioting.
Luke Greaves has an estate in the Water District, amidst bureaucrats and government workers. The Greaves Estate is protected by the City Watch.
Dishonored Roleplaying Game - The Oil Trail[]
By 1827, the situation for the workers at the Greaves Whale House is a powder keg. The factory's supervisor, Mikael Hauger, starts plotting with new workers, convicts who escaped from the Coldridge Dockyards, against both oil oligarchs, Greaves and Coldridge. His plan is to rally both Bottle Street and the Hatters and use their strength to push back at the oil industry abusing the Morleyan community. The revolt is exacerbated by the burning of the White Clove Inn, a Morleyan drinking place, by the City Watch on the covert orders of Lady Coldridge.
After this event, the group decides between assassinating Luke Greaves or letting him live after forcing labor changes on his company. They must also choose how to proceed: either breaking in to avoid losing lives or marching on his estate in protest. Regardless of the choice, the rebels infiltrate Greaves Estate by night to gather intelligence on its surroundings. There, they learn of his conflict with Lady Coldridge whose consequences directly impact the Morleyan community.
The rebels then execute their plan. If they go for a protest, they will be met with resistance from the City Watch, although far less than expected. In any case ends up with Old Man Greaves being removed from the company's management, either accepting the protestors' terms or by being assassinated. They will learn later that Lady Coldridge influenced Empress Jessamine Kaldwin into letting the protest go on as part of her plan to eliminate Greaves from the whale oil competition.
