The Hand That Feeds

The boy looking at his only friend.

The Unknown Child is a young boy living in Dunwall prior to the events of Dishonored, and the focal character of The Tales from Dunwall: The Hand that Feeds. He is severely abused by adults and older children, uses the alleyways to avoid any unwanted confrontation, and has a white rat as his only friend.

One day, a strange entity known as the Outsider appears out of the fog, and grants the boy supernatural abilities by branding the child with his mark.

Devouring-swarm

The boy using Devouring Swarm.

Once the boy obtains these abilities, his fear subsides, and he is confident enough to confront his tormentors. He calls forth a large swarm of rats to devour the children who had beaten and abused him throughout the years. However, he is bitten by one of the rats and contracts the rat plague, leading to his death.

Despite the painful circumstances of his demise, the boy's last wish is to thank the Outsider for allowing him to live the remainder of his life without fear.

He is also known as "the boy who knew only fear and loneliness."[1]
