Location[]
- In Dishonored, copies can be found in several places:
- In the servants' quarters at the Hound Pits Pub.
- On the top floor of the Greaves Refinery, on a shelf to the left of the entrance, during the mission, The Flooded District.
- In The Knife of Dunwall , a copy can be found in the storage house in the Rothwild Slaughterhouse Yard during the mission A Captain of Industry.
- In The Return of Daud, the first two stanzas are quoted at the beginning of Chapter 6.
Trivia[]
- The lyrics in the journal were used in the gameplay trailer for Dishonored.
- The soundtrack version includes more verses, including, "Shoot him in the heart with a loaded pistol."
- The song is based on the sea shanty "Drunken Sailor," which describes ways to punish a sailor for insobriety.
- During the DLC mission A Captain of Industry, Bundry Rothwild sings a line of the song as a parody over the Slaughterhouse's loudspeaker: (Sings) "What shall we do with a striking worker...?" (Laughs) "What shall we do with you, Miss Ames?"
- During the Dishonored 2 mission Death to the Empress, Corvo Attano or Emily Kaldwin may sing the first verse over Dunwall's loudspeakers, provided they have eliminated the mission's target.
- In the 2021 video game Deathloop, also made by Arkane Studios, the tune of the song can be heard on a tape recorder, with commentary provided via the in-game note RF Note: The Fuck is This?.
