A traumatized Charles.
Charles is a worker on Dunwall's reconstruction project. He was introduced in the first issue of Dishonored: The Peeress and the Price.
The Peeress and the Price[]
Charles was employed on one of the construction sites of Empress Emily's restoration project of Dunwall. However the Rat Gang, seeking to cause turmoil among the city's population, attacked the place. They brutally slaughtered all workers with the exception of Charles who Luella Price, the gang leader, forced to watch the scene. This ordeal left him in such shock that he was barely responsive to the City Watch coming to investigate the crime scene.
The City Watch had made no more progress with him when Captain Laurence brought the Empress and the Royal Protector, Corvo Attano. Corvo, used to see soldiers in shock, was able to calm Charles down enough for him to tell them what he witnessed. He went back in shock afterwards, and Corvo convinced Emily to not push him any further.
