Carlos Marletto

Carlos Marletto

Carlos Marletto is a minor character who appears in Dishonored 2, during the mission The Grand Palace.

Dishonored 2[]

Carlos Marletto is the owner of the Winslow Safe Store of the Palace District in Karnaca, and lives in an apartment overlooking Ravina Boulevard. Due to recent reasons of public order regarding the newly installed Wall of Light, he was forced to grant to the Grand Guard personnel access to his apartment indefinitely.[1]

Carlos has also a brother, Ricardo, and a wife.[2] Along with his brother, he powers a smuggling ring which supplies the district's black market shop, holding the back alley gate code. However, despite running a safe and vault business, Carlos seems to be pretty absent-minded[2], causing him to forget easily simple three digit combinations - this is a reason of great distress for his brother, who was forced to set several times the gate code. By the time Corvo Attano or Emily Kaldwin reaches the Palace District in their quest to seep in the Grand Palace, Ricardo's exasperation caused him to send a letter to his brother with the gate combination written in expensive colored ink.

When he is first met, Carlos is discussing with a guard about the Duke's new fees. If not disturbed, Carlos tries to stand up against the guard, but he is easily startled by the latter's warnings, who subtly threatens him to end up like his friend Serafina, a clockmaker whose shop was burned down while losing her brother in the fire. After the guard leaves the shop, he will wander around between the two floors, greeting the protagonist while mistaking them for a potential client.

Trivia[]

  • Another proof of Carlos' carelessness can be found in his apartment; the combination of his safe is not only very simple ("123") but can be discovered thanks to a silvergraph of the safe itself with the code entered on it in the same room.
